What a lovely day and a fantastic couple! Such a privilege to be part of a wonderful, meaningful, ‘meant to be’ wedding! Thank you Paul and Kirsten! After a busy morning we met the guests at Glencourse House for a really sweet, personal ceremony in the chapel. Thankfully the rain held off just long enough for us to get some pictures taken – then we were back to the main marquee for a wonderful night. I hope you both really enjoyed your day, and that you have a fantastic honeymoon! Here’s a sneaky peek of the photos x

Jenny and Gareth’s wedding makes the third time I’ve photographed the Jones’ girls – and as always I had a lovely time – they are such a warm and welcoming family, it was good to see you all again! The ceremony was at Lothian Chambers with close family and friends, then on to Blue for some photos on the roof (what a view!), a drinks reception in the Atrium, then a lovely dinner. The cake was fantastic – lots of mixed cupcakes, which looked so delicious! And the ceilidh band! Fantastic! After the first dashing white sergeant with more left feet than right, everyone got into the rhythm and when I finished everyone looked like they were going to keep on dancing all night! Thank you Jenny and Gareth for making me so welcome, you are a lovely couple, so obviously in love – I wish you a very happy future together! Here’s a glimpse of some of the photos, the rest of the photographs will be online on 20th October 2010.

A fantastic couple, an lovely family, a gorgeous dress… All together a wonderful wedding! Johanna and Mike, we feel privileged to have been asked to capture your special day – you guys are such a great couple, and you have a great group of family and friends – so many laughs! I don’t think I’ve ever met such a relaxed and easy going bride! The day all came together perfectly! Make sure you come and visit next time you’re in town! Here’s a sneaky peek of the photos, the rest will be available to view online on the 5th August. From both David and I, thank you both for a great day! We wish you a happy and healthy future together.
‘Trash the Dress’ is the latest craze to hit Britian… Brides put back on their wedding dresses for a photoshoot to get some really arty, relaxed pictures. This is a great way to get to enjoy wearing your wedding dress again, and to get the shots you mightn’t have had a chance to get on the actual wedding day. Well, I’d rather call these sessions ‘Love the Dress’ – and I have just started offering these post-wedding photoshoots to couples. The reason I call them ‘Love the Dress’ is that I still want to you have a wedding dress in good condition when you finish! For one of these photoshoots we take at least half a day, choose a handful of locations, pack some warm clothing, wellington boots, and a bottle of bubbles – and hit the road!
Louise was married to Simon almost two years ago, and decided that before she finally got her dress cleaned, she’d get a few more relaxed pictures taken – pictures she didn’t have time for on the day, and didn’t want to get in case her dress got a bit dirty. We had an ABSOLUTE BALL!!! It was so much fun!!! (and her dress was still perfect at the end of the day!) Thank you Louise for a fantastic day! Below are a few of the pictures.

I had such a wonderful afternoon at Nick and Isobel’s wedding! The wedding itself was held in Nick’s mum’s gorgeous home, it was a humanist ceremony, which was really lovely – some gorgeous readings and a really great group of Nick and Isobel’s closest family and friends. Thankfully the rain held of for long enough to get some nice photos in the gardens – although the wind was a bit of a challenge! A typical Edinburgh day – bits of rain, and lots of wind! The reception was held at the absolutely stunning Prestonfield House Hotel. I feel privileged to have been able to share in Nick and Isobel’s wedding day – thank you very much to both you and your family for making me so welcome! Congratulations on your marriage – you are a lovely couple and such a perfect fit! Here’s a sneaky peek at some of the images I captured, the rest of the images will be available online on 31st October 2009. I look forward to seeing you both soon!

Here’s a photo I took of Isabella about five minutes ago… I’m so happy she got her father’s gorgeous eyelashes!!!

Wow! What a wedding! Nicola and Neil were married yesterday at St. Giles Cathedral, Edinburgh, followed by a reception at the Balmoral Hotel. It was an absolutely gorgeous day! Nicola looked STUNNING, in such a fantastic dress (once we’d finally managed to tie her into it!), as did the bridesmaids Lisa and Simone. The ceremony was lovely – St. Giles is the most gorgeous cathedral I’ve ever photographed – there’s something about the atmosphere in there. Nicola did so well, having to walk into the church with so many curious tourists looking at her and cheering for her – it was really brave! The Balmoral staff were superb! Special thank you to Louise Mee the Wedding Co-ordinator, who made David and I very welcome – she showed us around, suggested places for photographs, carried umbrellas and flowers while we were photographing, and really went above and beyond to ensure Nicola and Neil’s day went off without a hitch! Thank you also to Morris, the Master of Ceremonies, who was lovely to work with – it was much easier to arrange the group photos with his help! Nicola and Neil, you are such a great couple – and it is obvious you are made for each other. Thank you very much for including us in your wedding meal – the food was excellent and we had a lovely time meeting your friends and family. If yesterday is anything to go on, I am sure you will have a very happy marriage surrounded my much love and support from everyone in attendance. Below is a collage of some of my favourites (I had so many that I’ve had to extend the size of my collage!), the rest of the images will be available online on the 23rd August 2009. Have a great time on honeymoon, and I’ll speak to you soon!

Congratulations Kristin and Tom! What a lovely venue, a lovely wedding and a fantastic couple – officially the most chilled out bride and groom ever! It was great to photograph at Dalhousie Castle for the first time (special thanks to the wedding coordinator, Michelle, for showing me around!), it is such a beautiful venue, with so many places to have great photos taken, and a fantastic team of staff – everything went off very smoothly! It was a lovely ceremony – David and I smiled to each other as Kristin was piped down the isle to the same song that I was on our wedding day (Highland Cathedral). And the owl delivering the rings was really awesome! Thank you both for being such a wonderful, relaxed couple to photograph! Congratulations on your marriage, we know you’ll be very happy for many years to come! Here’s a sneak peek of some of the photos, the rest will be available online on the 15th August.

Today is my husband, David’s birthday. David is the ‘other photographer’ in Rebecca Holmes Photography, the guy who doesn’t really get the credit, and who doesn’t seem to mind – so I thought it was about time I paid tribute to him, and thanked him for all his hard work. David carries all the kit, sets up backdrops, entertains the children, puts up with my nagging, assists me during portrait shoots, the list goes on and on… He is an all-round amazing help and support. However, this isn’t all David does. Many people are completely unaware of the fact that my husband is a pretty damn amazing photographer. He photographs the men before wedding ceremonies (and provides them with support and perhaps a nip of whisky if necessary!), photographs a lot of the scene shots – beautiful pictures of castles and churches, and gets a lot of the candid side on action shots that clients love. It is wonderful to work with my husband – after all – that’s how we met. It is particularly nice to enjoy so many other people’s weddings together – and remember our own every time. Below is a picture of my wonderful husband and my gorgeous daughter, Isabella. Thank you, David for all your love and support – have a fantastic birthday! xxx

Where do little kids get all their energy?! I photographed Melinda and her son Aidan today – I want some of whatever super go-go-juice Aidan had for breakfast!!! We had a great time, and I got some great pictures of the two of them, even if Aidan needed a bit of persuading! Isabella stepped in for a minute to show him how it was done, and of course David had his transformers out for entertainment! Here’s one of my favourite pics, the rest will be available to view online on the 16th August.
